In the world of professional print finishing, one of the most overlooked yet essential steps is the preparation of printed sheets before cutting. For large-volume operations, the efficiency of this stage can greatly affect both speed and accuracy downstream. That’s where the automatic jogger comes into play — a tool designed not just for convenience, but for precision.
An automatic jogger aligns and compacts stacks of printed sheets, ensuring they are perfectly squared before they move on to trimming or binding. Without this alignment, even the most advanced guillotine cutters can yield inaccurate results due to misaligned edges or skewed sheets. Precision in jogging translates directly into precision in cutting.
The core function of an automatic jogger is to vibrate and apply pressure to a stack of paper, causing the sheets to settle uniformly. More advanced systems integrate air-blowing technology or an air table, which introduces a cushion of air under the stack. This allows heavy or static-prone paper to shift more easily into place without damaging corners or edges — especially useful for coated or specialty papers.
